In an interview with CIO Applications, Lou D’Angeli, President of MTP, discusses the advent of cloud in the IT landscape and their ITaaS solutions, CloudRe, that they provide to solve their customers’ future technology challenges.
Give an overview of MTP and how it has evolved over the years.
Founded as a spin-off from its sister staffing firm, Jersey Staffing Solutions, MTP was a value-added reseller that resolved customers’ IT problems with the help of its cybersecurity, storage, and networking products and services.
Over the course of time, we have seen significant changes in the IT landscape with the introduction and adoption of the cloud. Today, everything is in the cloud, from IoT devices to workloads, generating volumes of data. We knew we could capitalize on these technologies and help our customers with a smooth transition to the cloud. To solve this problem, we came up with our new offering— CloudRe.
While businesses were moving to the cloud, we witnessed a tremendous shift in the minimization of data center footprint. Unlike most of our competitors, we constantly analyze our customers’ future business plans and identify products they want to migrate to a cloud environment. That’s why we introduced our CloudRe solutions.
Our umbrella product, CloudRe, includes several ITaaS solutions such as cybersecurity as a service (CSaaS), backup as a service (BaaS), disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS), and storage as a service (STaaS). We provide customers a full data protection suite with tremendous flexibility of remaining on-site or migrating to any cloud. With our data protection suite, customers can rest assured that their data is safe, secure, and can be recovered instantly. In addition to all these services, MTP still offers consulting and professional services, transforming clients’ IT environments in new and innovative ways.

Could you elaborate on MTP’s approach toward its clients while handling the challenges?
We always take a hands-on personal approach with our customers and do not sell our products until we learn about their needs. We create a plan together with our customers, targeting the products to be replaced and offer them a complete solution. MTP provides a backup platform—in partnership with Rubrik, a cloud data management company—which customers can manage in their own data center, in the cloud or we can manage for them. Customers want simple-to-use products that are innovative and software-defined in the backup and data management space and Rubrik proved to be the ideal choice.
For our customers planning to move out of their data center in the future, we can customize solutions for them. Furthermore, we help customers backup Azure or AWS using our data management solution.
In addition to Rubrik, what are the other product partnerships that MTP has and what other services does it offer?
Besides partnering with Rubrik, we work with companies such as Cloudian, Pure Storage, and Western Digital that offer leading-edge and cost-effective, all-flash and high density storage products, making the transition to the cloud easier.
MTP works closely with Fortinet, a leader in cybersecurity software, appliances and services for delivering firewall, cybersecurity, switching, and access points solutions in the networking and cybersecurity landscape. We also partner with tech giants such as HP and Microsoft, ensuring that our customers receive cost-effective and simple-to-use products. In a nutshell, we are a one-stop shop for the customers looking forward to protect and manage their data, on premise or in the cloud.
Could you share a client success story defining the capabilities you delivered to them?
One of our champion companies we serve is Diamond Credit Union (DCU). They were looking for a new storage solution that could handle the increasing demands of their customer requests.
We provided them an All-Flash storage solution from Tegile that increased their workload performance by 90+ percent. DCU benefited from a decrease in their rack space by 80+ percent, and recognized a cost savings of over 50 percent from their existing solution.
What differentiates us from our competitors is the easy to use, simple to deploy, and cost-effective products that we provide.
Please highlight MTP’s milestones and what plans does the company have in the near future?
In 2018, we were recognized as ‘Best Management Team’ and ‘Innovator to Watch’ by the New Jersey Tech Council. Moving ahead, our goal is to be the leading data protection company for our customers, reducing their overall footprint and empowering them with the flexibility to move their data to any cloud. We are currently working with investors from Silicon Valley to help us achieve that goal. We currently have a data center in New Jersey and envision opening one in Texas by Q3 of this year and another data center in Toronto Canada by Q1 of 2020. Currently, we service customers nationwide, but going forward, we intend to acquire and lead our customers to success in all the 50 states.
